Coated jeans are an easy way to add some edge to your regular denim routine. Supple and luxurious, coated denim is a versatile wardrobe staple, but like any high-end denim, it requires a delicate routine in order to keep it performing beautifully. Here are some basic tips for caring for your coated jeans.
1.) Dry Cleaning
When the time comes to finally clean your coated jeans, tread lightly (and cooly). Make sure to be upfront with your dry cleaner and request low-heat to be used.
2.) Avoid Spot Cleaning
Unlike with some other premium denim, you should avoid spot cleaning coated designs, as this might actually steep the stain further into the fabric. Your best bet? Steaming the area gently.
3.) Hand Wash
Hand washing is a straightforward alternative to dry cleaning. Be sure to turn the jeans inside out before getting started, and use cold water.
4.) Ice, Ice Baby
More of a preventative method than a means of cleaning, but storing jeans in the freezer is an easy way to kill bacteria and prevent fading.
